Kill Roaches as they Feed with Edible Gel Bait

Instructions

A. Purchase Supplies and Read Product Labels

1. Purchase one or more 30g tubes of Advion Cockroach Gel Bait with syringe tips for easy application. (How much you’ll need depends on the size of your house and the infestation.)
2. Buy a small notebook and pen to track the date of each application and all of the locations where you apply the bait.
3. Purchase a few pairs of disposable gloves to keep the insecticide off of your hands and away from your face.
4. Pick up a knee pad to feel more comfortable while treating hard-to-reach areas.

B. Find Where Cockroaches are Hiding

1. Use a flashlight to search behind kitchen and bathroom appliances, in storage areas and along walls for signs of cockroaches.

C. Prepare Your Home for the Bait

1. Clean any areas you plan to treat by sweeping and wiping surfaces.
2. Hide all roach food sources (including pet food), change garbage bags and clean sinks.
3. Attach the syringe tip (if not already attached) and the plunger to the bait tube.

D. Apply Advion Cockroach Gel Bait

1. Squeeze small, pea-sized dabs of bait in all target areas. For most
   infestations, spread 3 drops across every 10 feet of surface area.
2. (Don’t draw lines with the bait; too much will cause cockroach avoidance.)
3. The best place to apply gel bait is right around the roaches’ nest. This targets the females and nymphs that don’t venture far from the colony.
4. Place drops of bait in cracks, crevices and holes where roaches are active to target the males that emerge daily for food.
5. Treat under and around appliances, along walls and in wall voids, in cabinets, under furniture, on windowsills and in any gaps around wiring or pipes.
6. If you don’t want to apply the bait directly on floors and walls, place one or two drops on an index card or paper plate.
7. Apply drops of bait near ground-floor doors and in the basement. Also, place bait where pipes enter the bathroom and kitchen—German roaches especially love water.
8. You can even use Advion gel bait in the garage and patio areas outside, where American cockroaches and other outdoor species hide.

E. Monitor Bait and Reapply Whenever Needed

1. After applying Advion gel bait, continue to monitor the areas you’ve treated to see if the roaches are eating it.
2. If it’s mostly gone (a good sign!) or dried up, reapply the bait in the same tiny amounts.
3. You might have to use a putty knife or ruler to gently scrape off old, dry bait.
4. After 1–2 weeks, you should notice reduced cockroach activity. If the bugs are still eating lots of it, continue to reapply.
5. After the 2-week mark, you should find more bait leftover each time—that’s a sign that it’s working well. Continue to reapply until you see no roach activity.
6. When you’re confident the colony is dead (in about 1 month for small- to medium-sized infestations), move onto the next step.

F. Store Bait and Maintain Your Defense with Bait Stations

1. Gel bait remains fresh and effective for about a year after opening. Seal the tube and store it in a cool, dry place, out of reach of children.
2. Since gel bait dries up relatively quickly, bait stations can act as a more long-term defense, storing bait inside a compartment for months at a time.
3. Monitor any bait stations you place to make sure they’re still loaded. (Empty bait stations could become hiding places for roaches.)
4. Make gel bait and bait stations parts of a wider pest control system that includes exclusion and sanitation, as well as natural pest control methods.
